OBITUARY

Theodore G. Pope

Theodore Grant Pope was born March 3, 1865 at Springfield, Mo. He moved to Kansas in his childhood and settled on a farm northwest of Caldwell. He was married to Mary Helen Macklin June 5, 1880. To this union were born 10 children, six of whom are living. Four passed away in infancy. His wife preceded him in death April 22, 1922. He passed away unexpectedly May 4, 1938, at his home northwest of Caldwell. He was 73 years, 2 months, and 1 day old. He leaves to mourn his loss these children: Frank Pope, Kaw City, Okla., T. G. Pope, jr., Caldwell; Mrs. P. B. Hain, Susank, Kan.; Elmer E. Pope, Wellington; William T. Pope of Argonia, Kan.; Arthur A. Pope, Oklahoma City, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Susan Smith of Mayfield, Kan. Seventeen grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Friday, May 7 in Schaeffers chapel at Caldwell with Rev. L. O. Smith of Meade, Kan., in charge. Burial was in the Morris Center cemetery. Pallbearers were John Dial, August Conrade, Chas. Sears, Ben Builta, R. W. Prochaska, and Norman Wycoff. Mrs. Myrtle Foster, Mrs Moses Dial, and Eilene Rains sang at the funeral, accompanied by Mrs. Joe Deavers at the piano.
