T. G. POPE DIES T. G. Pope, farmer living north of Doster, was found dead in his bed yesterday morning by two of his grandsons, Melvin, and Elmer Pope, jr. He had been ill since Saturday, and the two boys had been staying with him since the, although it was not thought he was seriously ill. Dr. R. H. Downing of Wellington, county coroner, said there was a possibility he had suffered a stroke. Mr. Pope was 73 years of age. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Paul B. Hain of Susank, Kan.; Frank pope of Kaw City, Ok.; Theodore of Caldwell; Elmer of Wellington; William of Argonia, and Arthur of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. Sudie Smith of Caldwell; and 17 grandchildren. Mrs. Pope preceded her husband in death 16 years ago. Mr. Pope had been a resident of this vicinity more than 40 years, and was well known in the community. Funeral arrangements had not been completed today, but burial will be in the Morris Center cemetery, seven miles west of the Chikaskia church and one mile north. |
