Tatting and crochet work by Susan Martha Pope Smith
Tatting is the art of making lace using a special tool called a shuttle. In her later years Susan used her tatting skills as a pastime. One of her favorite patterns was a lace cross bookmark. The picture here is of two of her creations.

This cross is fastened to a bronze copy of the Lord's Prayer.
It was attached to a photo of Wynant Watts, killed by a car/pedestrian accident
in 1946.
